One bag, made properly
We do not have a range. We have one tallis bag, in five furs, and a stubborn view about how long it ought to last.
A tallis bag can be more than something bought for one occasion. It is carried, handled and seen week after week. We have kept the collection to one silhouette in five furs so the attention stays on that object and how it feels to live with it.
A bag knows the room
A tallis bag sits under an arm every Shabbos, gets put down on the same shtender, and is picked up again in the same order. It is not decoration. It is a thing with a job, handled more often in a year than most objects in a house.
Which is why the old ones survive and the new ones do not. The old ones were made from materials that could be repaired by somebody local, and the new ones are made to a price with a lining that fails first and cannot be replaced.
What we decided
The lining comes out. The zip is a size we will keep stocking. The crown is embroidered rather than pressed, so it can be lifted and reset onto a new face if the fur is ever beyond saving.
It costs more to build this way, which is why there is one bag rather than a catalogue.
Colour as a decision
The five furs are not a marketing exercise. This is an object somebody holds every week for decades, often bought for a boy who will have his own opinions about it by the time he is thirty. Onyx, Midnight, Ash, Olivewood and Ivory are meant to be lived with, not photographed once.
Where we are
Made to order in small batches. Parts kept for the life of the bag.
